Helicopter crash in Canton Uri - The 54-years-old pilot loses his life

According to a note issued by the police of Canton Uri on Monday June 11, 2018 at 2.35 pm, the police station was informed of an aviation accident involving the AS 350B3 Ecureuil HB-ZOJ helicopter in service with BEO Helicopter AG.
The helicopter was engaged in the transportation of material in the Surenen region (municipality of Attinghausen/UR). Unfortunately the pilot who resided in the Canton of Glarus, and who was alone on board, lost as said his life in the accident.
The images published by the police show that the cabin and the central structure of the helicopter were largely destroyed by the flames in a post crash fire.
The operator, which has his office in Lauterbrunnen (Canton of Bern), in a brief note stated that the pilot had a considerable flight experience under his belt. Unknown for the moment the causes of the incident.
Private people, a REGA team and police officers from the canton of Uri and Obwalden rushed on the scene of the accident. The care team of the Canton Nidwalden was activated to assist the people deeply touched by this tragic accident.
The Swiss Transportation Safety Investigation Board (STSB) will investigate to determine the causes of the accident.
