15.06.2022 – Guimbal Cabri G2 HB-ZDQ – Epagny/FR

On Wednesday, June 15, 2022 at about 2 p.m., a 65-year-old pilot and his 70-year-old passenger took off for a pleasure flight in an Epagny-based helicopter belonging to Swiss Helicopter AG.
After the takeoff, the Guimbal Cabri G2 HB-ZDQ helicopter which was about 80 to 100 ft in the air began to spin on itself, and after losing altitude it smashed orizontally on the airport lawn.
The two occupants, both residents of the canton of Bern, were injured in the accident and were rescued by people who immediately rushed on the scene and then by the ambulance service. The pilot was transported by ambulance to the hospital and the passenger by REGA helicopter.
The airport was closed to air traffic for several hours.
Fribourg Cantonal Police, REGA and ambulance services rushed on the scene of the accident.
In order to clarify the exact course of events and the cause of the accident, experts of the Swiss Transportation Safety Investigation Board (STSB) have opened an inquiry.
