18.06.2024 - AS 350B3 Ecureuil HB-ZLK - Conters/GR

On Tuesday June 18 at 1:20 PM a helicopter crashed in Conters in Prättigau (Canton Grisons). The 29-year-old pilot was injured and the helicopter seriously damaged. The pilot was carrying out a logging operation near Conters Schwendi. At the moment of the accident the helicopter was setting down a tree attached to the cable suspended to the helicopter.
According to initial findings, the helicopter crashed from a height of over 50 metres. The pilot was given first aid at the scene. A Rega crew provided the injured man with medical treatment and flew him to the Cantonal Hospital of Grisons in Chur.
The police called in the Mittelprättigau fire brigade and a specialist of the Nature and the Environment Office to secure the accident site.
Under Article 98 of the Aviation Act, the Office of the Attorney General of Switzerland is responsible for the prosecution of offences committed on board an aircraft.
In order to clarify the exact course of events and the cause of the accident, experts of the Swiss Transportation Safety Investigation Board (STSB) have opened an inquiry.
The investigation is being conducted with the support of the public prosecutor's office and the Grison cantonal police.
