18.12.2021 - SA 315B Lama HB-XII - Alphubel/VS

According to a note issued by Valaisan police a 34 year old private helicopter pilot, accompanied by three passengers, took off from Raron aerodrome at the controls of the SA 315B Lama HB-XII rented from the helicopter company Air Zermatt. During the landing manoeuvre at Alphubel at 3'782 m (municipality of Saas-Fee) the helicopter was seriously damaged. One of the occupants was transported by helicopter to Visp for a medical check-up, after which he was released.
In order to clarify the exact course of events and the cause of the accident, experts of the Swiss Transportation Safety Investigation Board (STSB) have opened an inquiry.
The SA 315B Lama HB-XII was the last helicopter of this type still in service with Air Zermatt.
