According to a press release on Friday, February 24, 2023, shortly before 12 noon, the cantonal police of the Canton Uri was alerted for a helicopter accident. During a training flight a civil helicopter crashed in the area of the official landing site on the Hüfifirn. 
The two occupants, aged 54 and 48, were slightly injured and were transported by Rega to the cantonal hospital and then they were discharged. The helicopter was severely damaged in the accident.
According to information published on the website aviation-safety.net, the aircraft involved is MD 520 Notar HB-XYP operated by Robert Fuchs AG - Fuchs Helikopter.
Under Article 98 of the Aviation Act, the Office of the Attorney General of Switzerland is responsible for the prosecution of offences committed on board an aircraft.
In order to clarify the exact course of events and the cause of the accident, experts of the Swiss Transportation Safety Investigation Board (STSB) have opened an inquiry.
The investigation is being conducted with the support of the public prosecutor's office and the Uri cantonal police.
