24.03.2018 - EC-135T1 HB-ZIR Region of the Gran St. Bernhard/VS

On March 24, 2018, at about 09:30 AM, the helicopter EC-135T1 call-sign HB-ZIR operated by Air Glaciers in the course of an alpine rescue action in the region of the Grand St. Bernard Pass (Valais) reported serious damages following the impact with the snow covered terrain shortly after the take-off near the homonymous hospice.
On board there were the fifty-five-years-old pilot and a flight assistant who had been alarmed for an avalanche. Neither of them fortunately reported injuries, but the helicopter as said was severely damaged.
According to the information released by the Valaisan operator, the rescue mission was carried out with difficult weather conditions characterized by irregular wind and fog.
